Simon Stephens

 

Born in 1971 in the United Kingdom. Graduated from the University of York. He is an increasingly significant voice in English theatre today. His plays are often explorations of the human condition of family life. Though his writing is often brutal, it has an optimism and authenticity that sets him apart from authors of the In-yer-face generation. Until 2005, Simon Stephens worked in the literary department of the Royal Court Theatre. His play Pornography was acclaimed at the 2008 premiere at the Edinburgh Festival. His plays include: Bluebird (1998), On the Shore of the Wide World (2005), Motortown (2006), Harper Regan (2007) or Punk Rock (2009). In 2009, Ana Nave staged Harper Regan at Sala Estúdio at Teatro Nacional D. Maria II.
