We brought the international ‘Sex Laws’ colloquim to a close.
On 26 June, Marionet brought to a close the international colloquium ‘Sex Laws: f(r)ames and f(r)ictions in cultural legal studies’, organised by the Centre for Social Studies. This event formed part of the project “LAWCUS – Sexual Harassment in Legal and Extra-Legal Contexts”, launched in 2025, for which our artistic director, Mário Montenegro, served as a consultant.
In this context, we presented a performance that examines sexual regulation in institutional codes of conduct, interweaving Beck’s song “Sexx Laws” with the Code of Good Conduct for the Prevention and Combating of Harassment at the University of Coimbra, alongside erotic and satirical poetry and language patterns from statements and interrogations in legal proceedings relating to sexual harassment in Portugal.
Here are some photographs capturing the short performance we staged at the Faculty of Economics, University of Coimbra.
