How long does the present last?
“Lab La Bla”, the first production of 2011 by Marionet – a theatre company from Coimbra, is built on the poetic and essayistic universe of Miroslav Holub, a Czech poet and scientist whose work is practically unknown in Portugal, in a sensitive translation by Manuel Portela.
Following in Holub’s footsteps, Marionet creates in this show a space for reflection on the presence of science in literature and in our lives, and the importance it currently assumes in the face of the ephemeral human condition.
It also experiments ‘in vivo’ with the interaction with a text-generating machine, which draws its inspiration from Holub’s poems and words uniquely chosen by Manuel Portela. Are machines capable of writing poetry? Can machines create?
