Marionet once again invites children to embark on a five-day journey to discover the brain, combining theatre and science.
The proposal for this week is to creatively explore this organ, with activities that place the participants in different spaces and times. Through concepts such as memory, consciousness or sensations, we develop our imagination by using our everyday lives and extrapolating them through dramatic experience. In short, we combine knowledge and imagination, trying to realise the marvellous things that are born in our brain, our most complex (and incredible) organ.
This time the workshop will take place at Rómulo – Science Centre of the University of Coimbra, with activities also taking place at the Botanical Garden of the University of Coimbra and at the UC Centre for Neuroscience and Cell Biology.

This Workshop emerged from the need to bring the disciplinary intersection Theatre/Science to the young public. Marionet stands out for its 23 years of ongoing work on the intersection between Performing Arts and Science. Along the way, there were several times that the work crossed with younger audiences and these moments made clear the importance of communicating science in a more practical, interactive and playful way.
The workshops take place when the children don’t have school activities. They lasted for five days, and were prepared by Marionet’s team, directed by Mário Montenegro and coordinated by Carolina Andrade, graduated in Theatre and Education.
