Arthur Giron

A founding member of the Ensemble Studio Theatre in New York, Arthur Giron was named “One of our best contemporary dramatists” by critic Rosette LaMont in the publication Stages.

 

“Becoming Memories” (published by Samuel French) has won a Drama Logue Critics Award for “Outstanding Achievement in Theatre”. His play “Edith Stein” (also published by Samuel French) was described by the New York Times as “full of passionate ideas”. His play “Flight” (published, once again, by Samuel French) was presented in over 120 cities. The Ensemble Studio Theatre produced his plays “Innocent Pleasures”, “Moving Bodies”, and “Boy Dies Dancing Mambo”.

 

His other plays include “The Coffee Trees”, based on “The Cherry Orchard” by Anton Tchékhov, set in contemporary Guatemala, “A Dream of Wealth”, a play-myth on the conquest of Guatemala by the Banana Cowboys, “Charley Bacon and His Family”, “Scouts Honor”, and “Emilie’s Voltaire”, winner of the Galileu award.
