It's the end of ‘The Catastrophist’
After four days of “The Catastrophist”, the time has come for some well-deserved and heartfelt thanks.
To our warm host, A Escola da Noite, who, with their usual kindness and professionalism, opened the doors of the Teatro da Cerca de São Bernardo to us.
To the people who, in 2022, and without yet knowing that we would be staging this play, took part in the Collaborative Translation Project, as part of the Reading Theatre with Science initiative, creating a Portuguese-language version of Lauren M. Gunderson’s text, to be directed by Marionet’s Artistic Director, Mário Montenegro.
To Ricardo Vaz Trindade, for his sublime portrayal of virologist Nathan Wolfe, a character rich in nuances and subtleties who was also brought to life in Portuguese Sign Language by Jéssica Ferreira and Andreia Esteves.
To the team whose artistry brought this production to life. Its incredible visual impact was down to the lighting and technical direction by Danilo Pinto, the video by Laetitia Morais, the costumes by Carolina Costa Andrade and the set design by Pedro Andrade, who also designed the poster. The soundscape and music were the work of the fantastic multi-instrumentalist, Marcelo dos Reis.
To Professor Vitor Duque, who offered us his valuable contribution during Sunday’s post-show talk.
As usual, we relied on the vital technical support of Máfia – Coimbra Cultural Federation and the generous promotion provided by Rádio Universidade de Coimbra and Antena 2.
Finally, as this production could not have been realised without funding, we would like to express our gratitude to the Directorate-General for the Arts and the Municipality of Coimbra.
