"Morfeu", the beginning of Marionet Digital

The Marionet Digital project consists in the creation of short filmed theatre plays, which make the view on theatre more comprehensive and contemporary.

 

Although they do not replace the face-to-face relationship, essential to the performing arts, the digital media have developed significantly and have gained their own space in today’s societies, for all generations, especially the younger ones.

 

The first manifestation of this project, conceived for the digital world, is called “Morpheus” and it will premiere on 28 April through all Marionet’s platforms, starting at 8pm. Throughout this project we will focus our attention on showing another side of the health problems that many of us live with every day.

 

This Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome is already known to us, and to those who follow us. Marionet is working on this subject continuously since 2018 through the project “Dormir ou não dormir?” (To Sleep or Not to Sleep?), which adressed the disease and also the daily coexistence with it.

 

One of the activities of this project was the show “Morfeu e Apneia” (Morpheus and Apnea), which had its premiere on 18 March 2022, World Sleep Day, in Convento São Francisco. The first edition of Marionet Digital will rescue fragments of this show and amplify them, giving them a different overlook. A work under the direction of Mário Montenegro and that counts with the attentive lens of Tiago Cerveira, who will direct these videos. Marcelo dos Reis, a Marionet’s frequent collaborator, also joins the team to create soundscapes and music.

 

Marionet Digital is a project that hovers in the imagination of the artistic team that constitutes the company for the last three years. It will soon arrive on everyone’s screens, so that themes like this can be better known and discussed.
