Morpheus was mortal.
Apneia was a goddess.
Or is it the other way around?
Marionet Digital’s first expression is a dejà vú and unravels the subject of Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome through a look that is both utopian and tragic. This silent and asphyxiating disease affects about 100 million people worldwide, and it is estimated that between 80% and 90% of cases in Portugal are undiagnosed.
Marionet Digital intends to be a space for artistic expression in formats designed for digital remote communication. In this context, the set of three works to be produced in 2023 focuses on themes of Health Sciences. The first one is about Obstructive Sleep Apnea and follows a set of other productions we have made based on this issue. Sleep apnea is a breathing disorder related to sleep, and consists in the cessation of breathing flow during sleep for more than 10 seconds and more than five times per hour due to airway collapse. Its direct consequence is the alteration of the sleep pattern, in which there is an inability to reach the deep phases, the ones that allow physical and mental rest.
