Marionet becomes a partner of the Rencontres Recherche et Création
We are proud to announce that Marionet is one of the partners in the 11th edition of the Rencontres Recherche et Création (RRC), taking place this year on 8 and 9 July in Avignon and organised by the Festival d’Avignon and the Agence Nationale de la Recherche.
This is a very important event in the context of interdisciplinary theatre/sciences discussion in the French-speaking world and is part of one of the most renowned theatre festivals in the world. The RRCs were created in 2014 by Paul Rodin and Catherine Courtet, scientific manager of the Department of Social Sciences and Humanities, who was keynote speaker at the 2nd edition of the International Colloquium Theatre About Science, organised by Marionet in 2023.
One of the main RCC goals of this kind of meetings is to enable the productive intersection between the performing arts and scientific research. Our experience leads us to fully agree with the French RRC organisation when it states that “the arts, fiction and live performance never cease to feed our experience of the world and our thinking; and the scientific approach, through analysis, observation and experimentation, never ceases to advance the frontiers of knowledge.”
In the photo, taken by Mário Montenegro, we show a view of the Cloître Saint Louis, where part of the Festival d’Avignon programme usually takes place, which was visited in 2022 by our Artistic Director.
