The fifth session of Reading Theatre with Science happened in Marionet’s Space, in Coimbra, on the 16th of February 2022. The translation was read of Lauren M. Gunderson‘s “The Catastrophist”, made by the Collaborative Translation Project’s volunteers. The original text, as well as the translation made by the Collaborative Translation Project, are available for consultation or loan at the DCPAS.

Written during the 2020 lockdown and based on the life and work of the playwright’s own husband, Dr. Nathan Wolfe, a virologist and pandemic specialist. It is an intimate play, that deals with real stories of love, family and loss, through the depths of scientific research, the prescience in the prediction of pandemics and the harrowing need to face one’s own mortality.
