The Routledge Companion to Performance and Science investiga e esclarece o crescente interesse internacional nas interseções e interações entre teatro, drama, performance e ciências.
Essas disciplinas são exploradas por meio de uma ampla variedade de ensaios de artistas, profissionais, investigadores e académicos, muitos dos quais trabalham em contextos interdisciplinares, transdisciplinares ou multidisciplinares. Com um foco amplamente contemporâneo, sustentado por uma seção introdutória que apresenta uma história das interseções antecedentes, o volume oferece uma gama diversificada de perspetivas sobre a ciência, os métodos científicos e o conhecimento científico em diálogo com os estudos e a prática da performance. A nossa compreensão de «prática» é ampla, desde diferentes formas de performance até à comunicação e interpretação científica, passando por abordagens científicas à performance e formas de gerar e divulgar conhecimento científico. Dentro deste vasto cenário, surgem várias questões e temas fundamentais: Como pode o conhecimento científico ser questionado pelas práticas performativas? Como pode a performance explorar as implicações humanas do desenvolvimento científico? Como podem as práticas científicas ser compreendidas através das teorias performativas? Como são os cientistas ou as práticas científicas e as ideias representados na performance?
Este é um recurso fundamental para académicos e estudantes de nível superior das áreas de artes cénicas, comunicação científica, humanidades médicas e da saúde, estudos de ciência e tecnologia e projetos interdisciplinares de artes/humanidades/ciências.
