Over five days, children and young people become observers, researchers and creators, setting out to discover the hidden life of urban streams. Using a scientific questionnaire for observing a stream, developed with the support of MARE, the group learns to observe the water, the banks, the sounds, the animals, the plants and the relationship between the city and aquatic ecosystems. Each response gathered in the field becomes material for theatrical games, scene composition, movement and collective creation. Straddling science and imagination, the workshop culminates in a short final presentation where a new perspective on the streams that run through our daily lives is shared.
This activity is part of the European OneAquaHealth project.

This Workshop emerged from the need to bring the disciplinary intersection Theatre/Science to the young public. Marionet stands out for its almost 25 years of ongoing work on the intersection between Performing Arts and Science. Along the way, there were several times that the work crossed with younger audiences and these moments made clear the importance of communicating science in a more practical, interactive and playful way.
The workshops take place when the children don’t have school activities. They lasted for five days, and were prepared by Marionet’s team, directed by Mário Montenegro and coordinated by Carolina Andrade, graduated in Theatre and Education.
