Deborah Zoe Laufer, American playwright and stage director, has a degree in Playwriting by Julliard. Her plays have been produced at Steppenwolf Theatre Company, Cleveland Playhouse, Geva Theatre Center, Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, Actor’s Theatre of Louisville, Portland Stage, and internationally, in Germany, Russia and Canada.
Some of her works include “Informed Consent” (Duke on 42nd Street), produced Off-Broadway, “Leveling Up” (Eugene O’Neill Theater), “Sirens and Brink!” (Actors Theatre of Louisville), “Evolution” (Carnival Studio Theater), “Fortune” (Marin Theatre), and “The Gulf of Westchester and The Last Schwartz” (Florida Stage).
Her play, End Days, was awarded the American Theatre Critics Association Steinberg Citation and later, was able to continue running through the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Grant (Florida Stage).
Notable awards include the Helen Merrill Playwriting Award and a Lilly Award. She is also a two-time recipient of the Le Compte du Nouy Award from the Lincoln Center Foundation.
Her plays have been published by Samuel French, Smith and Kraus, and Playscripts, and have been developed at The Eugene O’Neill Playwrights Conference, Williamstown Theatre Festival, The Ojai Playwrights Conference, The Dramatists Guild Fellowship Program, and others.
