The “side effect” of yet another reading...
Yesterday we reached our 33rd session of ‘Reading Theater with Science‘, our beloved project in which we bring together a group of people to explore plays with scientific themes. This time, we read “The Effect” by British playwright Lucy Prebble, whose Portuguese version was provided by a complementary initiative, the Collaborative Translation Project.
After the reading, as usual, we stayed a little while longer to talk about the many “side effects” the text sparked in us, such as issues of mental health, the limits of medicine, fate, loyalty, and physical attraction. And amongst those present, there was a unanimous and strong desire for Marionet to one day stage ‘The effect’. We hope to be able to fulfil that wish one day…
