Come and discover ‘The Effect’ at the 33rd ‘Reading Theatre with Science’.
The 33rd instalment of Reading Theatre with Science takes place on 23 September, at 6:00 pm, at Floresta Urbana da Ribeira da Madrigueira (next to the Vale das Flores Linear Park), in Coimbra.
The text we will be reading is ‘The effect‘ by Lucy Prebble. Two young volunteers, Tristan and Connie, agree to take part in a clinical drug trial. Succumbing to the gravitational pull of attraction and love, however, they manage to throw the trial off-course, much to the frustration of the clinicians involved. This funny, moving and perhaps surprisingly human play explores questions of sanity, neurology and the limits of medicine, alongside ideas of fate, loyalty and the inevitability of physical attraction.
Anyone interested in taking part in this event, whether to read or simply to watch, simply needs to register via the following email: ler@marioneteatro.com
As always, the text has been translated into Portuguese as part of the Collaborative Translation Project, and the original version is available for consultation or loan at the Documentation Centre on the Performing Arts and Science.
