What if we could travel in time? Imagine the stories we’d have to tell afterwards…
But before we build a machine for that journey, we need to understand what time is. Do we really understand it? Is it something fixed or can we change it? Why do some moments seem eternal and others disappear in an instant?
In this five-day workshop, we will combine theatre and science with a group of children and young people who will explore different ways of perceiving and representing time, using the body, the voice, the imagination and small scientific experiments.
The activities will include scientific research and theatre creation, during which we will invent characters who live in different eras. In the end, they’ll all be present in a performance, which will take us to a place where the past, present and future mix.
If you’re curious, come and travel with us!

This Workshop emerged from the need to bring the disciplinary intersection Theatre/Science to the young public. Marionet stands out for its almost 25 years of ongoing work on the intersection between Performing Arts and Science. Along the way, there were several times that the work crossed with younger audiences and these moments made clear the importance of communicating science in a more practical, interactive and playful way.
The workshops take place when the children don’t have school activities. They lasted for five days, and were prepared by Marionet’s team, directed by Mário Montenegro and coordinated by Carolina Andrade, graduated in Theatre and Education.
